London & Peterborough

Fall weather means two things - festivals and football! I would say we have successfully accomplished both of these activities this year.

We were unable to make it to Oktoberfest but for my birthday we suited up in our lederhosen and dirndls and cruised on over to the Bad Durkheim wine fest - the biggest wine festival in the world!

England
Ever since we moved to Germany, Taylor talked about how he had to attend one of the NFL games that takes place in London. Well, back in May when we were in the US, our Ute playing Dolphin friend said he would provide us some tickets - Awesome!

Our first 2 days in England were spent with our friend Rachel and her parents who live in Peterborough. The last time we saw her was in Colorado Springs so it was our turn to see her neck of the woods!

We saw the beautiful Peterborough Cathedral and then made our way to Stamford to stroll through the 17th century stone buildings.

After our pub lunch with a delicious cask conditioned ale (AKA flat beer) we went to Rachel's cute house on the farm. Her parents were more than generous to host us and instantly we felt right at home! Except at this home we got to make homemade cider, eat shepherd's pie and play with the chickens!

The next morning was finally GAME DAY! We hopped on a train from Peterborough to London and then tubed it to our hotel (I highly recommend any of the Premiere Inn's when traveling to London). We met up with Kaley and Dave and in our Dolphin attire we headed to Wembley Stadium!

The stadium was packed full of people wearing Dolphins and Jets jerseys. Oh, and Broncos, Packers, Cardinals, Saints, Bills, Giants, Cowboys and other NFL team jerseys. I was surprised to see such a strong fan base for American football!

Our flight left the next day in the evening so that gave us time to explore the city a bit! We saw Big Ben, the London Eye, and Buckingham Palace. We even squeezed in a few pub beers and fish and chips before heading home!
